for receiving ornaments, photos, and videos.

Each activity follows a simple pattern:

Download — Decorate (or) Translate — Display — Share

Details for each activity are shared below.

WHO:

Everyone. Everywhere.
All ages. All places. All religions.

WHY:

Because we are celebrating Mattie’s message:
“Peace is for all people.”

The inspiration for both activities comes from
the closing line of Mattie’s December Prayer poem:

“Let’s say a prayer this season,

Together, for peace.”

Activity 1:

Mattie’s Peace Tree Ornaments —

for our website international family tree

Download —

View and download our 2-page ornament template
by clicking here.
  (If you prefer, we will e-mail you the template if requested).

Decorate —

Decorate one, several, or all of the ornament choices.
Be creative!
Cut out the ornaments for display.
Optional — laminate or glue to cardboard or heavy paper.

Display — 

Celebrate peace by displaying your ornament!
Hang it on a tree, create a bulletin board,
add it to your refrigerator…

Inspire others with the closing line of
Mattie’s December Prayer poem:
“Let’s say a prayer this season,
Together, for peace.”

 

Share — 

Send us a copy (photo) of your decorated ornament.
Scanned copies work, but the easiest way is to simply
snap a photo with a cell phone
and email it to HeartsongBooks@gmail.com.

We will process the photo and add it to the
2013 Mattie’s Peace Tree on our website.

We would love to post photos of your family,
class, business, or community decorating the ornaments!
Please send them with your ornaments!

If you speak a language other than English,
please translate Mattie’s December Prayer poem.
We would love to share your written translation!

Record the poem via cell phone, webcam, or other video.
Read it in English or  as a translation.

Read it as an individual, or as a group –
a classroom, a book club, a retirement group,
an office, a city council, a community of worship…

When recording video, PLEASE INCLUDE:

 Your name or your group’s name
 Your location (state, country)
   The language you are sharing
 Name of poem (December Prayer)
 Authorship (by Mattie J.T. Stepanek)
 Read the poem slowly and clearly (English and/or other language)
 Please end your video by saying:
“Peace is possible. Choose peace!”
(in English and/or translation)

Display —

Celebrate peace by sharing the dowloaded poem,

and by posting your video on social media

throughout the month of December!

Post the poem in a company/community newsletter,

create a bulletin board, add it to your refrigerator…
