-
Our 2014 theme:  Peace is possible… choose peace!

-

In 2014, the Mattie’s Foundation launched a new, free Peace Activity Certificate component to our Peace Certification Program. This program encourages and supports individuals,  families, classrooms, educators, schools, groups, and communities to participate in our free peace activities, or to share with us their peace activity or lesson plan which includes an element of Mattie’s poetry or peace message. We also continued to mentor the participants in our Peace Certification Program, and to encourage our Peace Club Kids, Tweens, and Teens with messages from Mama Peace that included suggestion peace conversation points and activity ideas.

-

The 2014 Summer “Make Peace the News” Outreach Activity lent support to our Mattie’s Peace Day Campaign, and gained more than 7,500 signatures for our online petition, and also the support of a growing number of bipartisan politicians, organizations, and communities. And Mattie’s Peace Tree 2014 celebrated peace expressions from youth and adults of many faiths in 31 countries around the world.

-

We celebrated Mattie’s 10-year anniversary with a Mass at the Franciscan Monastery, and his 24th birthday with a free Peace Gathering in Mattie’s Park. During the Peace Gathering, global neighbors enjoyed cake and conversation, music and mosaic activities, and we unveiled the Peace Pole donated to Mattie’s Park, and honored City of Rockville, Maryland for becoming the first city to declare July 17 “Peace Day” in honor of Mattie. We also began a video project that will focus on Mattie’s life, mission, and message of hope and peace.

-

These are just a few highlights of the programs and activities Mattie’s Foundation was able to offer in 2013 because of our Champions. And, because of your generosity, many of our activities and programs are available at no cost to participants. Thank you to all of our Champions who support the Foundation, and the mission to spread Mattie’s message of hope and peace for our world.
