Our Spotlight Feature introduces website visitors to individuals or organizations which exemplify Mattie’s vision for “choosing peace for ourselves and for our world.” Three categories are based on Mattie’s “Three Choices for Peace” concept. The fourth category recognizes an outstanding sponsor (individual or organization) whose financial or in-kind contribution supports the mission and work of Mattie’s Foundation, or supports people in need of hope and peace.

Every six weeks, we feature new Spotlight role models who receive the following:

  • Recognition on our website throughout the featured six weeks
  • A Certificate of Recognition from Mattie’s Foundation
  • Permanent listing of Recognition in our Spotlight Archives

May/June 2013

The mid-May through June 2013 Spotlight
celebrates individuals and groups who
move from “attitude to action”
and in doing so, share peace for our world.

Our Peace Seeker is a Maryland educator who focuses on anti-bias work with youth. Our Peace Maker is a film and television editor from New Jersey who celebrates the interconnectedness of humanity. Our Peace Bringer has lived in countries all around the world, and has been an advocate for peace since he was a very young teenager. And, our Peace Sponsors represent a family-run brick and masonry company and believe in supporting a mission of peace.

Whether teaching or editing, facilitating peace or installing bricks in a Peace Garden, all of these amazing honorees have chosen to make peace a part of their everyday choices in thought, in word, and in deed. They have also chosen to seek and make and bring and sponsor peace – for themselves, for their communities, and for our world, and so, we are celebrating them as the 2013 mid-May through June Peace Spotlight honorees!
