Just Peace: A Message of Hope (2006)
Mattie's final book is a collection of peace essays and poetry, letters and photographs, and selections from several years of e-mail correspondence between Mattie and Former President Jimmy Carter. This NY Times Bestseller offers readers three sections in which Mattie shares his vision of the world and humanity as a mosaic of gifts in need of a message of hope and peace – The Mosaic Vision, The Mosaic Shattered, and Rebuilding the Mosaic. Edited by Mattie's mom, Jeni, the book contains a Foreword and a "Forthword" from President Carter.

Reflections of A Peacemaker: A Portrait Through Heartsongs (2005)
Mattie's final collection of poetry was published posthumously, and offers eight chapters of verse and one chapter with an excerpt from a novel Mattie was working on when he died. Each chapter has an introductory passage by Mattie's mom, Jeni, and also a chapter foreword by a special person in Mattie's life, including Maya Angelou, Larry King, Christopher Cross, Jimmy Carter, Jerry Lewis, Chris Cuomo, and Jann Carl. This NY Times Bestselling book is filled with photographs and includes some of Mattie's finger paintings, and contains poetry that spans the entire decade of Mattie's writing -- from age 3 through his final months of life at age 13. Edited by his mom, Jeni, the book includes a foreword contributed by Oprah Winfrey.

Loving Through Heartsongs (2003)
Another bestseller, Mattie's fifth book of poetry offers five chapters of poetry – Finding Love from Lessons, Witnessing Love in Creation, Sharing Love Through People, Keeping Love Amid Challenges, and Learning Love for the Future. The poetry in this book was written when Mattie was ages 3-12 years, and the book offers a foreword by Dr. Maya Angelou. Though two more books would be published posthumously, this book was the last in Mattie's Heartsong series that combined his poetry and finger paintings.

Celebrate Through Heartsongs (2002)
A NY Times Bestseller, Mattie's fourth book offers five chapters of poetry and finger paintings – Celebrate Nature, Celebrate Thoughts and Dreams, Celebrate Special Days, Celebrate Life, and Celebrate Everyday Heroes. A NY Times Bestseller, Mattie's third book offers three chapters of poetry and finger paintings – Hope for Within, Hope for Each Other, and Hope for Our World – and a foreword by spiritual author Gary Zukav. This book contains poetry Mattie wrote when he was 3 to 11 years of age, including the series of poems he wrote on September 11, 2001.

Journey Through Heartsongs (2002)
Mattie's second book offers five chapters of poetry and finger paintings – Beginning the Journey, Considering the Journey, Coping with the Journey, Celebrating the Journey, and Growing Beyond the Journey – as well as a foreword by Former President Jimmy Carter. Heartsongs (paperback 2001, re-released as hardback 2002)
Mattie's very first book, which he put together for a book contest when he was in kindergarten, offers four chapters of poetry and finger paintings – Senses, Seasons, Celebrations, and Sound of Childhood.
