Heather Dobbins

Heather & MattieHeather Dobbins, Ph.D. worked for the clinicalTrials.gov task on the National Library of Medicine contract with ICF International as the Lead Results Analyst from 2009 and Project Director during 2011. In this role she managed a team of four reviewers, developed and implemented criteria for reviewing results records, and conducted reviews of records. She was also responsible for training new reviewers and employing practices that ensured consistency of reviews within her team, and she was actively involved in developing additional training and support materials for results database users.

During early 2012, she begins a promoted role as Staff Scientist at the National Institutes of Health. Heather received a B.S. in Physics and a B.S. in Biology from the University of Maryland in College Park, a Ph.D. in Neuroscience from the University of Maryland, Baltimore, and held a postdoctoral position in Physics Education before her current career with ICF.

Affectionately called “Hedder” by Mattie when he was first learning to speak, she has been a part of the Stepanek kin-family for more than 20 years (even before Mattie was born!). “Mattie and Jeni, as well as their peace mission mean a lot to me. I would like to do what I can to be a part of the effort to promote peace.”

Heather is a well-organized leader and a team-player, and practiced in providing structured, detailed deliverables such as grant and government contract content and financial reports. She now hopes to bring innovative ideas and practices to support the mission and work of Mattie’s Foundation. A volunteer for the Foundation since 2007, Heather was elected to the Board of Directors and to serve as Treasurer in 2011.
