Director
Marie Lê
Marie Lê is an enthusiastic supporter of the principles and values espoused by the Mattie J.T. Stepanek Foundation. She has known about Mattie’s message of Heartsongs, hope, and peace since 2001. One of her relatives was intimately involved in the successful effort of many people to fulfill Mattie’s wish of sharing his message through Oprah Winfrey. Now, as a mother of school-age children, she has “an astute appreciation for creating positive activities and demonstrating leadership for upcoming generations.”
Marie is inspired by Mattie’s message of peace because she looks for peace in her own life, and likes Mattie’s idea that “peace is possible.” Marie and her children began volunteering for Mattie’s Foundation during the summer of 2011, and enjoyed serving as Peace Guides for the “Peace is Possible” Pathways Station during the 2011 Peace Celebration.
Marie has an undergraduate degree in psychology and pre-me from Old Dominion University, and earned her Master’s degree in clinical psychology from the University of Maryland. She is currently a Business Administrator for a developing small business in Silver Spring, MD. In her job as a construction contract manager, she deals with government bureaucracy and business obstacles on a daily basis. This has given her experience in making appropriate connections and researching requirements needed to help cash flow and operations, which she hopes will be a valuable talent she will be sharing with the Foundation.
In her free time, Marie enjoys hanging out with her family, entertaining friends, photography, and decorating. She has a reputation for being dependable, and is creative and resourceful – qualities that she is excited about bringing to her work as a Director for Mattie’s Foundation.
